    B&R introduces new controllers with OPC UA over TSN and Intel processors

    B&R is among the first manufacturers to introduce controllers with OPC UA over TSN communication technology and Intel Apollo Lake I processors. The new X20 controllers are distinguished by significantly higher performance, additional RAM and integrated onboard flash memory.

    The new controller generation supports OPC UA over TSN and can be used as a field-level master in corresponding networks. It offers considerably more processing power than previous X20 generations with the same compact design. The controllers are equipped with high-speed Intel Apollo Lake I processors and enable cycle times as fast as 100 µs. They also offer a large L2 cache, a faster floating point unit (FPU) and faster RAM access for optimal command processing.

    B&R’s latest addition to its Compact-S series is a compact controller with an integrated switch. With an integrated switch, it enables daisy-chain cabling between network stations.

    At a width of only 37.5 mm including the power supply, the X20CP0420 is extremely compact. The controller achieves cycle times down to 4 ms and is equipped with 128 MB RAM and 256 MB internal flash memory. With Ethernet, USB and RS232, the controller offers plenty of communication options. An optional CAN bus interface is also available. With no fans or batteries, the compact controller is also maintenance free.

    The Power Panel C50 provides the combined advantages of a powerful controller and a modern projected capacitive touch screen in a single HMI device. The Power Panel is equipped with a dedicated processor for the HMI application, and is therefore an optimal solution for mapp View HMI applications. It can be used at temperatures ranging from -20°C to +60°C and does not require a fan.

    The modern multi-touch HMI is available with clear or anti-reflective glass, and is ideally suited for premium machine designs. The touch screen reacts precisely and reliably even when operated with thick leather gloves. Gestures such as zoom or swipe provide an intuitive user experience. The Power Panel C50 is available in widescreen format in four different sizes from 7.0″ to 15.6″.
